Nursery

We welcome our youngest participants to join in fun and song in our Nursery each Sunday morning. Our Nursery Teacher offers consistency to our youngsters from infancy through age 2. Stories are read, songs are sung, prayers are shared and everyone enjoys playtime!

School Aged Church School

Our children have enjoyed learning Bible stories through our Workshop Rotation Model. Ages three through 5 th grade all study the same Bible story for an entire month. We’ve found, through telling and experiencing the story using different venues, the children grasp the concepts of the story solidly and enjoy the experience. Our preschool through pre-kindergarten children meet in the Christ Clarion Community Preschool class rooms each week. The other children are split into two groups, first through third grade and fourth through fifth grade. These two groups rotate through our four different learning areas: Ancient Tales, Creation Station, Drama and Media. In each area, they learn about the story in a different way. Frequently, the children share their story through a play performed for the congregation at the end of the month.

Middle School Youth

The middle schooler has three programs to choose from with many participating in all! They include:

  • Church School: Lively discussions are held Sunday mornings discussing topics of interest to this age group highlighting morals, friendship, and outreach.
  • Confirmation Class: We offer a Confirmation Class to anyone interested in joining the church in 6 th, 7 th, or 8 th grade. The study period is October through April culminating in joining the church around Easter. Activities include meeting with church mentors, study on Sunday morning and mission activities in the community.
  • Youth Group: The youth enjoy fellowship events as well as mission activities such as serving supper at Cameron Community Center, packing food at SWEM, working at Foodlink and many other activities. In 2006, we are participating in a GROUP Work Camp in York, PA.

High School Youth

Beginning in 2006, we will be offering a Sunday morning discussion for high schoolers covering topics that are important to them. Each year our high school youth focus on one of the most important mission projects of our church – our Maine Mission Trip. The youth work together on fundraisers that support their one week trip to Leeds, Maine where they work with the Rural Community Action Ministries reaching out to families in need. They work very hard doing home improvement and repair for very grateful residents.

Adult Education

Adult Sunday School

Adults meet prior to the worship service each Sunday studying a variety of topics and formats led by both our pastor and lay leaders. Recent classes have included studies of The Beatitudes; Dr. Timothy Johnson’s book, Finding God in the Questions; a comparison of Judaism, Christianity and Islam using the One God, Three Faiths series of CD lectures; a study of mourning and hope based on Brahms’ German Requiem; and Beyond Belief: The Secret Gospel of Thomas by Elaine Pagels.

Wednesday Study-Prayer Group

A group of adults and the pastor meet each Wednesday afternoon for study, fellowship and to share prayer concerns.

Women’s Faith Group

This group, open to all women of the church, meets monthly at various venues to share fellowship and discuss faith journeys.

Men’s Breakfast

The men of the congregation gather together one Saturday a month for breakfast for fellowship, a program and to explore ways to do mission and other activities together.

Church-Wide Book Groups

The congregation comes together periodically to share a book that explores faith issues. We meet in small groups at flexible times during the week to encourage broad participation. We have recently read together Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life as a way think about our life priorities as Christians, and Harold Kushner’s The Lord is My Shepherd, for a deeper understanding of a familiar Psalm. Frequently the worship services during this period will complement the themes being explored.

Sunday Evening Seminars

These meet periodically through the year with a specific topic highlighted. Recent seminars include Internet Safety, and a series dealing with End of Life Issues.
